R. M. Stoudt

Richard Mayo ""Dick"" Stoudt, 76, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, September 18, 2005 in Jamestown.

Dick Stoudt was born June 30, 1929 in Fargo, ND the son of Richard and Marlys (Carl) Stoudt. He moved with his family to Jamestown in 1940, graduating from Jamestown High School and Jamestown College. He married Honey Bee Ogilvie. They made their home in Jamestown, where he worked for, and later purchased, R.M. Stoudt, Inc. During his years as a Ford dealer he was named the North Dakota Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year, and served as Vice-Chairman of the Ford National Dealer Council. He served as Chairman of the Board of American Hardware Insurance, President of the Greater North Dakota Association, The North Dakota Automobile Dealers Association, Jamestown Kiwanis and Jamestown Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Jamestown Planning Commission for 41 years and was a part time Political Science Instructor at Jamestown College. Stoudt was named the JC's North Dakota Young Man of the Year in 1960, he received GNDA's North Dakota Community Leadership Award and the Jamestown Chamber of Commerces' Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1992. He was a warrant officer in the 188th Field Artillery of the North Dakota National Guard for 11 years, with service in Alabama in 1950 and Korea in 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Honey Bee of Jamestown; five children, Casey (Sue) Stoudt, Jamestown, Beth Michaels, Atlanta, GA, Jamie (Mim) Stoudt, Lake Elmo, MN, Melissa Stoudt, Minneapolis, MN and Dana (Cecil) Stoudt, Excelsior, MN; one sister, Carol Stoudt, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Casey (Melissa) Stoudt, Kelly Stoudt, Sarah (Tim) DeBruin, Dan Stoudt, Angus Stoudt and Sabrina Stoudt; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Maquire; two sisters-in-law, Ma-Jean (Robert) Reimherr and Joyce Peters, CA and special friends, Dave (Maxine) McConnell, Melissa and Amanda.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ernie Peters.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the United Presbyterian Church in Jamestown with The Rev. Bart Davis officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Jamestown Hospital Hospice, Jamestown College or the Grace Episcopal Church.
