Raymond Gunsch

Raymond Gunsch, 68, Jamestown, N.D. died Monday, November 25, 2002 at the Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, N.D.

Raymond was born June 7, 1934 in Hettinger County, south of Hebron, N.D, the son of Mathias and Lydia (Kitzan) Gunsch. He attended school in Mandan, N.D., graduating from Mandan High School.

Raymond entered the United States Army on September 4, 1956 and was discharged on June 13, 1958.

He married Shirley Latham on May 3, 1958 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. He was owner and operator of Ray's Printing from 1973 to 2000. He owned and operated until the time of his death Ray's Clock Repair.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Jamestown Eagles, and the Jamestown Bowling Association. Ray was inducted into the North Dakota Horseshoe Hall of Fame. He served as president for the James River and Bismarck horseshoe clubs along with the North Dakota Horseshoe Association. He has been on the NDHA board of directors for the last 20 years. In 1980 he organized the James River Horseshoe Club and was instrumental in getting 16 courts built at McElroy Park through the Jamestown Park and Recreation Department. Ray was a avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Shirley Gunsch, of Jamestown, N.D.; a son, Lance Gunsch, of Mandan, N.D.; a daughter, Melia (Joey) Cotton, of Jamestown, N.D.; three grandchildren, Trevor Tollefson, Haley and Sara Cotton; two brothers and three sisters, Emil (Rosemary) Gunsch, of Bismarck, N.D.; Martha Keil, of Chesterton, IN; Edwin (Carmen) Gunsch, of Manteca, CA; Margaret (Wayne) Bulter, of Mandan, N.D.; Lydia (Norman) Mosbrucker, of Chesterton, IN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. - Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church - Jamestown, N.D, with Rev. Donald C. Crippen officiating.

Prayer Service: 8:00 P.M. - Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, N.D.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 26, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.

Burial: North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery - Mandan, N.D.
