Raymond Johnson

Raymond J. Johnson, 92, of Sacramento, CA, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at Martinez VA Medical Center, Martinez, CA.

Raymond Jerome Johnson was born January 2, 1931, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND, the son of Melroy and Emily (Jeske) Johnson.  He attended grade school in Eldridge, ND and graduated from Jamestown High School.  In 1951, Raymond joined the Eagle’s club in Jamestown and was a lifelong member, a Golden Age Eagle.  Also in 1951, he joined the US Navy on October 16 and serviced the USS Orion Sub Tender at Norfolk, VA.  Raymond was honorably discharged on October 11, 1955 and began working shortly thereafter for Con-Air aircraft factory as a machinist at San Diego, CA. He also attended flying school at San Diego and became a commercial pilot in 1962.

He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association (AOPA), the American Bonanza Society and Experimental Aircraft Association, the USS Orion AS-18 Veterans Historical Organization.  Raymond was also an assessor for Eldridge Township for many years.

Raymond was united in marriage in 2007 to Peilin Hsu and visited her parents at Taipei, Taiwan in 2009.  He is survived by his lovely wife, Peilin.

Visitation – 9:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21 and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial – 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, with military honors.
