Reuben Martel

Reuben Martel, 88, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Medina, ND, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Mr. Martel was born December 10, 1918 near Medina, ND, the son of Gust and Katie (Rau) Martel. He lived south of Medina until he moved into Medina in 1959. Reuben joined the US Army on May 22, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN. He served his country in the South Pacific, particularly the Guadalcanal. He was discharged on October 24, 1945 at Camp Shelby, MS. He was a carpenter and woodworker all his life.

Reuben was a member of the American Legion in Medina for 60 years and was their treasurer for 45 years. He loved the Lord and his top priority was to read his Bible daily.

Reuben is survived by his sister, Virginia Martel, of Medina.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, April 16, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Rev. Randy Jaspers officiating.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota.
