Reuben Schmidt

Reuben Lloyd Schmidt, 72, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Reuben was born December 24, 1932 on the family farm by Lake Williams, ND the son of Fred and Mary (Kassman) Schmidt. He attended Lake Williams rural school until the 8th grade and then went to work on the family farm. In 1952 Reuben join the US Navy and served during the Korean War until his discharge in 1956. He was married in April 1957 and from this marriage they had four children. They later divorced. In 1957 Reuben moved to Valley City where he worked for the Rudolph Hotel. In 1961 he returned to Jamestown where his home has been since. On June 19, 1992 Reuben married Marcy Sissell. He worked for various restaurants in Jamestown throughout the years, the last 8 years at the Eagles Club in Jamestown from where he retired in 1994.

Upon his retirement he enjoyed playing cards, fishing and visiting with his many friends.

Reuben is survived by his wife, Marcy of Jamestown; two sons, Kenneth Schmidt, Killeen, TX and Freddie (Leslie) Schmidt, Hermleigh, TX; one daughter, Corlene (Stephen) Bintzler, Larimore, ND; a step-daughter, Debbie (Del) Weber, Bottineau, ND; a step-son, Mark (Sherie) Gaunska, Jamestown; four sisters, Violet Gruebele, Pettibone, ND, Elizabeth Guthmiller, Jamestown, Frieda Guthmiller, Wilton, ND and Catherine Kolberg, Harvey, ND; two brothers Harry Schmidt, Pettibone, ND and Reinhold (Verla) Schmidt, Robinson, ND; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven and one sister, Martha Gaub.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Friday, October 7, 2005 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Thomas Eckstein officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
