Richard Guthmiller

Richard Guthmiller, 90, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday morning, March 9, 2018 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.

Richard was born February 20, 1928, on the family farm near Sydney, ND, the son of Fred and Katie (Koenig) Guthmiller. He attended rural school in the Sydney area and helped on the farm. Richard farmed until entering the US Army on November 20, 1950. He served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on August 21, 1952 as Corporal. He returned to farm in the Sydney area and married Joyce Ova on July 10, 1964 in Jamestown. They made their home in Jamestown where Richard was a carpenter for over 40 years. After he retired, Richard was custodian at Gussner Elementary school from 1989 to 1995 and later, was an attendant at Super Wash in Jamestown. Joyce passed away earlier this year on January 5th.

Richard is survived by his sons, Tim (Tina) Guthmiller, West Fargo, ND, Mike Guthmiller, Jamestown; Joel (Lori) Guthmiller, Jamestown; grandchildren, Erika (Andrew) Lamb; Mercedes, Casper, Drake, Dayna, Morgan, Allison; a step great granddaughter, Danika; two brothers, Leslie Guthmiller, Jamestown, and Fred Guthmiller, Jamestown; two sisters, Helen Hagel, West Fargo, ND and Margaret (Jerome) Johnson, Jamestown; and sister-in-law, Patty Guthmiller, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers, Harry, James, Albert, John, and Edward; and sister, Mary.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Matt Zimmer officiating.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Interment: 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
