Richard Mawby, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, August 13, 2007 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Richard was born March 19, 1926 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Alphild (Yelmgren) Mawby. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945. He attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL graduating in 1950 with B.A. in Speech Rehabilitation. In 1960 Richard received his Masters degree in Education from the University of Texas.
Richard taught 13 years at Jamestown High School and 24 years at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children in Jamestown, ND. He also was the announcer for five seasons at several auto shows.
Richard was interested in music and for 20 years he played the drums in a band on the weekends. He liked domesticated birds and collecting antique phonographs.
Richard is survived by his wife of 26 happy years, Hong Mawby of Jamestown and three very special friends, Eva Chan, Hong Kong, Myra (Ohlsen) Liberato, Fargo, ND and Georgia Tuchscherer, West Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown with Pastor Paul Stuart officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
