Robert "Bob" John Ault, 89, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown. Bob was born October 28, 1926 in Pembina County, ND, the son of Nick and Violet Ault. He graduated from Cavalier High School. Bob then joined the United States Army, reporting for duty at Ft. Snelling, MN on March 24, 1945. He was stationed in Germany and honorably discharged on October 22, 1946, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, having earned the rank of Private First Class. After the War, Bob graduated from North Dakota State Agricultural College and moved to Mott, ND where he met Betty Lou Benson. Bob and Betty married on October 12, 1952 in Verona, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where Bob worked as an agricultural insurance salesman and later for AGSCO.
Bob and Betty were charter members of Atonement Lutheran Church where he would often usher the Sunday services. Bob was a lifelong member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. He enjoyed farming and gardening.
Bob is survived by his son, Charles Ault, Wilton, ND; brothers, Everett (Dolly) Ault, Thief River Falls, MN and Merle (Barb) Ault, Cavalier; sister, Maureen (Kurt) Striegel, Bismarck, ND; son-in-law Jim Lambert, Lake Crystal, MN; three granddaughters, Anine Lambert of Bismarck, Lillie Lambert of Fargo and Mary Lambert of Erskine, MN; great-granddaughter Bailey Bauer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty,/ daughter Carla, his parents and a sister, Anna Mae Ault.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, February 1, 2016 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Jamie Desai, officiating.
Visitation: one hour before the service at church.
Spring Burial: Cavalier City Cemetery.
