Robert "Bob" Bruce Hanson, 87, LaMoure, ND formerly of Edgeley and Jamestown, ND died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure.
Bob was born February 25, 1926 in St. Paul, MN to Ole M. and Phyllis (Weston) Hanson. In 1942, when Bob was 16, the family moved to a farm in North Dakota near New Rockford, where he attended Columbia School in Columbia Township. Bob went into the US Army in 1945 during World War II. He had just finished his basic training when the war ended, so he was sent to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Bob worked for Eddy County and later at the lumber yard in New Rockford until he was transferred to the lumber yard in Edgeley. On September 12, 1959 he married Ethel Young and they farmed her farm near Edgeley where they lived until Ethel's death in 1996. Bob eventually sold the farm and moved to Jamestown.
On March 15, 2000 he married Helene (Helen) Schultz. Helen passed away November 27, 2004. After Helen's passing, Bob sold their home and moved to Rock of Ages in Jamestown and lived there until recently, when he was hospitalized and then transferred to St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
Bob is survived by sisters, Carol Ann Hoffman, Littleton, CO, Donna Borgerson, Devils Lake, ND and Marge (Bob) Volk, Casselton, ND; step-daughter, Louise Zimney, as well as nephew and niece, Jerry and Nola Thom and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, parents and step-daughter, Agnes Entzminger.
