Robert W. Opp, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Robert was born January 9, 1928 in Dawson, North Dakota, the son of Fred and Grace (Peters) Opp. He attended school in Medina and graduated from Medina High School. Robert entered the US Army on November 20, 1950 and served in the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on August 19, 1952 and returned to North Dakota. On June 7, 1957 Robert married Evangeline Haupt in Medina, North Dakota. He was employed as the maintenance supervisor at Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center for over twenty years. Evangeline died January 2, 1975.
Robert enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, model trains and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Robert is survived by two sons, Robert L. (Sandy) Opp, Jamestown and Timothy (Lori) Opp, Bismarck, ND; one daughter, Shari Sahr (Tom Hoffmann), Jamestown; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Joel; daughter, Shelly; two brothers and two sisters.
