Rodney Fields, 96, Jamestown, ND died at Manor Care, Minot, ND on Wednesday, September 3, 2008.
Rodney Harlan Fields was born March 17, 1912 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the son of H. E. and Lyda (Rownd) Fields. He grew up and attended school in Cedar Falls, Iowa and later lived on the family farm near Marion, ND.
Rodney married Muriel L. Mellum on December 4, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN. They soon moved to Jamestown where he worked first as an aircraft mechanic and later as an auto mechanic for Liefert Garage and R. M. Stoudt Ford.
As a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast he rode to the age of 96. He operated Fields Repair Shop, a motorcycle dealership, and participated in many competitive cycle events (winning many as well).
Muriel died on March 27, 1999.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Wallace (Bev), Minot, ND and David, South Pasadena, CA; and 1 daughter, Jackie Curtis, Pasadena, CA; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
