Roger Leroy Koenig

Roger Leroy Koenig, 73, of Woodworth, ND passed away March 4, 2015 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Roger was born October 25th, 1941 in Woodworth to Fred and Agnes (Liberda) Koenig. He attended Woodworth Public School. During his early years he not only farmed but worked as a truck driver and sheep shearer. He married Elizabeth (Liz) Donat on September 21, 1963 at Concordia Church, in Jamestown, ND. They raised cattle, sheep, horses, and grains for over 50 years together. During his years of farming and ranching he served on the Strong Township Board and Stutsman County Water Board. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Pettibone Saddle Club, and the American Paint Horse Association. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and his passion for farming. Rarely did he miss a cattle or horse sale. When his children were growing up family time was spent attending school activities, horse shows, trail rides, or working together as a family. His love of farming and open prairies kept him at his residence until his death. His knowledge of farming and ranching operations will live on in all that knew him.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Liz; two sons, Rick (Marie) Koenig, Roger Timothy (Shari) Koenig, and one daughter Beth (Nathan) Miesen; ten grandchildren, Reed (Tara), Preston, Michaela, Kenzie, Taylor, Zoe, Rachel, Holly, Gracelyn, and Clay Koenig; one great-grandchild, Paislee; brothers, Richard James (Lorraine) Koenig; sisters, Jean Hochhalter, Leona (Edgar) Leapaldt, Shirley (Eugene) Wolff; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Hochhalter.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 7 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodworth, ND with Pastor Robert Hill, officiating.
Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 6 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, March 6 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Gem Cemetery, Woodworth, ND.
