Roland Kramlich

Roland Kramlich, 79, Medina, North Dakota died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, North Dakota.

Roland Kramlich was born July 26, 1923 at Kulm, North Dakota, the son of Gustav and Katherina (Steckler) Kramlich. He grew up and attended school in Dawson, North Dakota. Roland enlisted in the United States Army in 1944, serving in World War II until 1946. After completing basic and infantry training, he entered the Medics and became a first aid man on the front lines in Okinawa. Later while in Japan, Roland advanced to become a surgical technician and held the rank of sergeant. Four years later he was called back to the United States Army for the Korean War. He spent eleven months in Japan, from November 1950 to September 1951, as a surgical technician. Roland married Emma Rose Hagel on October 14, 1951. He worked for the Borth Family in their Tappen Store until 1955 when they moved to Medina, North Dakota. He worked at the Borth Store in Medina until he retired in the fall of 1999. Roland was a member of English Lutheran Church, Medina, A.A.L. Branch of English Lutheran Church, and the American Legion Post, Medina. He enjoyed doing yard work and taking care of his lawn. He loved playing cards and telling jokes, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Roland is survived by his wife, Emma Rose Kramlich, Medina, ND, 2 sons, Doug (Sherry) Kramlich, Tappen, ND; and Mark (Robin) Kramlich, Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Barbara (Douglas) Opp, Jamestown, ND; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gustav Kramlich, Lodi, CA; and Emil Kramlich, Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and 2 brothers (Ewald and Reinhold).

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, August 16, 2002 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND with Rev. Robert Pestal officiating.

Prayer Service: 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 15, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., Thursday, August 15, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
