Ronald James Schauer was born in Jamestown, ND, February 28, 1944. He passed peacefully on June 14, 2015 in Fargo, ND at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit, after a long struggle with health issues.
Ron grew up in Jamestown, the son of Fred W. Schauer and Magdalena Elizabeth (Otto) Schauer. He attended Elementary school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962. He married Monica Lee Harr on August 14, 1966. They have three sons, Ronald Jay (Cindy), Darron James (Becky) and Clay, and two granddaughters, Madison Jean and Alaina Rae, and a step grandson Wren.
Ron worked for White Drug for about five years when he came home from serving in the U.S. Air Force. Before he married he was hired as a linotype operator, and later as a Page Compositor for the Jamestown Sun for 22 years. After the Jamestown Sun was bought out, he sold vehicles for Don Wilhelm, Inc. of Jamestown for approximately 11 years. He retired for health reasons in 2003.
Ron always enjoyed cars, especially the classics, and music of the 50's and 60's. He sang in a local band called the Hearsmans as a young man and later was a member of the Jamestown Choralaires for a short time. He taught Sunday School for about 15 years and coached Little League when his sons were involved. Ron was involved in his church on committees until health issues made it difficult. He loved his Lord and Savior. His Pembroke Welsh Corgies Teddy and Patrick were a big part of his life. The love of his family and pets got him through many difficult times. His granddaughters were a blessing and made him smile every day.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, two granddaughters, step grandson and sister, Edna (Clarence) Sadowsky, Gales Ferry, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harry (Jean), Kenneth (Joan), sisters, Irene (Paul) Heasley and Mary Jean (Corbett) Roberts.
