Roy "Jerry" Ronholm

Roy “Jerry” Ronholm, 91, of Jamestown, North Dakota died on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at his home.

Jerry was born on December 10, 1929 the son of Gudmund and Clara (Odland) Ronholm in McHenry, ND. He graduated from McHenry High School on May 29, 1947 and then from NDSU on June 11, 1956 with his degree in Pharmacy. He joined the US Air Force on October 29, 1948 and did his basic training in San Antonia, Texas. Went to control tower operator school in Belleville, Il and then spent six weeks in Japan, six weeks in Okinawa, and two years in Guam. In 1951 he returned to the states and was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Ill. Jerry was honorably discharged on August 21, 1952. He worked at Beardsley Drug as an intern pharmacist from 1956 until 1957. He then worked at Hawkins Drug from 1957 until 1978 as their chief pharmacist and became the owner in 1978.

He was a member of the North Dakota Pharmaceutical Association and was on the board of directors for two two-year terms, the third-party advisory committee 1986-1987. An award he received was the Bowl of Hygeia Award which is the North Dakota Pharmacutical award for outstanding community service in pharmacy. He received this award on April 21, 1990. He was a representative of District 7 since 1985, served as general chairman of state convention in 1979 and he was also a member of the BPO Elks #995, James River Eagles Lodge #2337, Son’s of Norway/Wergeland Lodge, American Legion Post #160, Kiwanis Club (twice president), Trinity Lutheran Church, Chamber of Commerce, Jamestown men’s bowling association, Jamestown Downtown development association, Frontier Village Board, National Rifle Association, and National Association of Retail Druggists since 1978. Jerry has attended and bowled in many national men’s bowling tournaments. He was a volunteer with James River Senior Citizens and was dedicated to giving back to the community.

He enjoyed golfing and being with family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Myrna of Jamestown, son, Gary Ronholm of Jamestown, his brothers; Gordon Ronholm, Maynard Ronholm and sister, Elizabeth Alme, two grandchildren; Cassandra Ronholm and Paige Ronholm.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his son, David Ronholm.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery.
