Rueben Schlaht

Rueben Schlaht, 79, Cleveland, North Dakota, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown, ND.

Rueben was born September 1, 1924 on a farm south of Cleveland, North Dakota the son of George F. and Rosie (Burkhardt) Schlaht. He attended country school in Stirton Township south of Cleveland. As a young boy he worked on the family farm with his father. Rueben married Arleen Thornton on September 9, 1945 in Jamestown, ND. They moved to a farm south of Cleveland where they grain and dairy farmed and have lived ever since.

Rueben was a member of the United Methodist Church, Cleveland, the Farmers Union and was a Stirton Township Supervisor for 18 years.

Rueben is survived by his wife, Arleen, five children, Larry (Marty) Schlaht, Woodland, CA; Karen Micek, Downingtown, PA; Dean (Cindy) Schlaht, Cleveland, ND; Gail (Bob) Gulkin, Jamestown, ND and Dennis (Susan) Schlaht, Lexington, NC, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, foster daughter, Lillian (Don) Hofmann, Medina, ND, one sister, Martha Rott, Jamestown, ND and two brothers, Eugene Schlaht and Elroy (Elaine) Schlaht, both of Valley City, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Adam, Herbert, John and Edwin and two sisters, Clara Wolff and one in infancy.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran and Chaplain David Fisher officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, North Dakota.
