Russell "Russ" Krueger

June 16, 1919 — January 7, 2018

Russell W. Krueger was born on June 16, 1919 in Eldridge, ND to Walter and Myrle (Godwin) Krueger. He was a faithful son, a loving husband, a compassionate father, a loyal friend, a patient farmer, and a wise man.

Russell graduated from Millarton High School and worked on the family farm until he entered the US Army Air Force in December, 1941; he served as an airplane mechanic with the 302nd AAF Base Unit. While serving, he met his future wife, Nell, at the USO in Baton Rouge, LA. They went to church on their first date. They must have really enjoyed the service as they were married on December 13, 1944. Russell was honorably discharged from service in November, 1945. He and Nell returned to the Jamestown, ND area and raised their family of two boys eventually moving back to the family farm in 1961 where they lived most of their lives.

Russell’s passion for farming remained steadfast through all his years but he was also a member of the Elk’s Club and the Eagle’s Club for many years. He was a 4-H leader for 10 years; he spent 21 years on the Klose Farmers Elevator Board; and he was also a member of the Sydney Township Board for many years until Nell decided she no longer wished to serve lunch.

Russell will be remembered with great love as a man who was patient, kind, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Those most honored to share in Russell’s life: sons: Russell LeRoy (Karen) Krueger, Lynn (Lisa) Krueger; grandchildren: Derek (Vicki) Krueger, Amy (Trevor) Mountjoy, Beau (Jen) Krueger, Courtnay (Chris) Harper, Brady (Becca) Krueger, Chelsea (Jorge) Cruz; great grandchildren: Morgan, Paige, Brent, Owen, Ari, Rhys, Charlotte, Cecilia, Van, Martie, Chloe, Cora, and Camila; sister: Joanne Janssan and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilda Nell Krueger; and brother, Vernon (Babe) Krueger.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 11 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 12 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Erik Weber, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
