Ruth Cumber, 63, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at Jamestown Hospital. Ruth Lange was born January 10, 1940 in Jamestown the daughter of William C. and Ella (Pruess) Lange. Ruth spent her childhood years on the family farm near Eldridge, ND. She attended school in Eldridge through 8th grade and graduated from Jamestown High School. Immediately following graduation she worked for Dr. Babcock. Ruth married Lyle Cumber on June 25, 1966 in Jamestown. Ruth worked for Dr. Miles, the Tempo Store for 16 years, White Drug and Ronholm Drug. She loved her cats, garden, animals and taking care of people.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Lyle; her mother, Ella Lange, Jamestown; two brothers, William (Marge) Lange, Eldridge and Kenneth Lange, Jamestown, two brother-in-laws; Jack (Marlene) Cumber and Kenneth (Janna) Cumber, both of Jamestown and two sister-in-laws; Janice Beckett, Casper, WY and Debra Nannenga, Otis Orchards, WA, three nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, September 12, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. JoAnne Moeller officiating.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Visitation: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
The family suggest memorials to either the James River Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
