Ruth Dally, 95, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Montpelier, ND, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown, ND.
Ruth Witzig was born September 13, 1915 at home west of Adrian, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Cora (Scheel) Witzig. She was raised near Adrian and attended the rural school. She later attended school in Adrian, ND and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1934. She worked at the Flugga Hotel in Marion, ND for a time and then attended Jamestown Business College. She moved to Bismarck, ND where she worked at the North Dakota State Capitol in the Land Department and later at the Bank of North Dakota. She moved to Jamestown, ND where she worked at the North Dakota Farmers Union State Office. On May 27, 1948, she married Lester C. Dally at Montpelier, ND. They rented a farm 5 miles southeast of Montpelier and in 1954, bought a farm 2½ east of Montpelier. Ruth worked for the Montpelier School District as a secretary/clerk from 1957 to 1977. She also served as the Manns Township Clerk for many years. Lester died in 1995. In June of 2005, Ruth moved to Rock of Ages in Jamestown and later to Hi-Acres Manor.
Ruth was an active member of Montpelier Lutheran Church, the Ruth Circle, the Homemakers Club of Montpelier and the Montpelier community. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, sewing, gardening, visiting, music and dancing.
Survivors include 2 sons: Jerome (Diana) Dally, Montpelier, ND; Bruce (Lori) Dally, Montpelier, ND; 6 grandchildren: Ryan (Sandy) Dally, Montpelier, ND; Jonathan Dally, Jamestown, ND; Vanessa (David) Bruley, West Fargo, ND; Rachel (Beau Simmons) Dally, Mandan, ND; Jennifer (Brian) Amundson, Jamestown, ND; Wade (Megan) Dally, Montpelier, ND and 6 great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 siblings: Russell Witzig, Glen Witzig, Melva Olson, Lois Olson and Doris Ziegenhagen.
Funeral - 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Montpelier Lutheran Church, Montpelier, ND
Visitation - 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment - Montpelier Lutheran Cemetery, Montpelier, ND
