Ruth Marston Goffe, a resident of Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown, died January 4, 2010.
Ruth was born August 11, 1915 to Pearl (Adams) and Hugh Marston in rural Stutsman County, North Dakota. Ruth attended college in Valley City, after graduation from Woodworth High School. She taught elementary students in various country and small town schools in the area.
Ruth and Hiram \""Hi\"" Goffe were married in Jamestown in 1940. They raised five children in Jamestown before moving to Fall City, WA in 1967. He died in 1984.
Ruth was active as a volunteer in Fall City. She was a docent at the museum, helped at a school for handicapped children and worked on community beautification projects. She was active in the Episcopal church, the senior citizen organization, study club, garden club, and bridge club. Ruth, showing signs of advancing Alzheimer's disease, moved back to Jamestown in 2006.
Ruth is survived by daughters: Joan Wagner, Jamestown, Linda Steger, Fargo; sons: Stan (Esther) Goffe, Enumclaw, WA, Art Goffe, West Fargo, ND, and Bob (Carol) Goffe, Courtenay, ND; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; half-sister, Christie Marston Benson, Overland Park, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hi; parents; three brothers, Jim, Nate and Bill; two sisters, Lou and Kay; two grandsons, Mark and Mike Wagner; and daughter-in-law, Sandy (Krueger) Goffe.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Following cremation, Ruth's ashes will join Hiram's ashes in the Fall City Cemetery.
