Ruth Horton

Ruth Horton, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at her home.

Ruth Webb was born July 1, 1924 in Fries, Virginia, the daughter of Wiley and Clara (Wheeler) Webb. She grew up and attended school in Virginia. On October 22, 1944 Ruth married Kent Horton in Hampton, VA. They moved to Jamestown in 1955. She worked as a secretary in the nursing department at Jamestown College from 1966 to 1985, when she retired.

Ruth was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, where she was active in the church guilds. She enjoyed directing music, singing, and traveling with her husband.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Kent, Jamestown; daughter, Marilyn H. Barrios, Las Vegas, NM; son, Bruce (Daphne) Horton, West Fargo, ND; and two granddaughters, Kate and Carrie Horton, both of Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ethelyn Funk and Iris Arrowood; and one brother, Everett Webb.
