Ruth Linstaedt, 93, Cleveland, North Dakota died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at her home.
Ruth Bietz was born June 28, 1915 in Iosco township, near Medina, North Dakota, the daughter of Gottlieb and Anna Maria (Montz) Bietz. She attended rural school in Iosco township and helped on the family farm. On June 23, 1938 Ruth married George Linstaedt in Jamestown, ND. George worked construction and they rented land and then in 1948, they purchased a farmstead where their home has been since. They took great pride in working hard and paying cash. George died June 17, 1988, one week before their 50th wedding anniversary.
Ruth always had a great respect for education and because of this she was very active on various boards promoting education in the Cleveland area. She also served on the election board and was an active member of the Methodist church in Cleveland. Ruth was a great baker and cook. She loved to sew, crochet, tend to her garden and care for her cats. She also loved playing card games, especially whist and pinochle.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Pat (Jim) Fox, Flat Rock, NC and Karen (Wil) Olson, Huntington Beach, CA; one son, Dean Linstaedt, Cleveland, ND; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law, Frieda Bietz & Ruby Zimney, both of Fargo, ND and Shirley Linstaedt & Lorraine Linstaedt, both of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Ronald; parents; six brothers, Ted, Dave, Richard, Rueben, Gideon and Arthur; and three sisters, Emily Fauth, Esther Schock and Lorraine Reule.
Funeral Service: 3:30 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Chaplain David Fisher officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, North Dakota.
