Ruth B. Senn

Ruth Bayley Senn, 84, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at Mountain Vista Health Center in Wheat Ridge.

Ruth Bayley was born June 26, 1922, in rural Ayr, North Dakota, the daughter of Warren and Grace F. (Luttrell) Bayley. She attended rural school District 110 south of Page, North Dakota, from first through the eighth grade. Ruth attended Page High School, graduating in 1941. She was married in the fall of 1944 to Myron Senn, who died in 1972 in California.

She was active in church work and played with an women's independent softball team for a couple of years, as well as participating in an independent basketball team.

Ruth attended Valley City State College from 1956-1959, commuting 90 miles each day to receive her two-year Second Grade Professional certification. She moved to Hope, ND with her family in the fall of 1959 where she taught third grade for four years. She was active in her church as a Sunday School teacher and singing in the choir during this time.

She resigned her teaching position in the spring of 1963 to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree. In May of 1964, Ruth received her Bachelors degree with a major in English and a minor in psychology. She began teaching English at Valley Junior High School in Grand Forks, ND in the fall of 1964. She retired in the spring of 1986 and moved to Jamestown, ND.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jamestown where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and mission ladies group. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and cross country skiing.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Duane (Rosemary) Senn, Aurora, CO and Dale Senn, Florida; one daughter, Kathy (Archa) Hill, Lakewood, CO; five granddaughters; five great-grandsons; two brothers, Arthur Bayley, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Warren Bayley, Fargo; four sisters, Maxine Dortch, Flagstaff, AZ, Shirley Disher, Fargo, ND, Margaret (Orville) Samuelson, Jamestown and Mae Paulson, Stanley, ND.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia; a grandson, Aaron Hunt; her parents; four brothers, Keith, Jim, Roger, and Bud; one sister, Grace Johnson and three brothers-in-law, Lester Paulson, Laurence Dortch and Don Disher.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Jamestown with Pastor Wayne Bangs officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial: Page Cemetery, Page, North Dakota.

Arrangements with Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church Missions, Jamestown.
