Ruth A. Wick, 89, Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Elim Care Center in Fargo.
Ruth Lytle was born April 25, 1919 in Wing, ND, the daughter of Irvine and Deoline (Rongrud) Lytle. She grew up and attended school in Wing. She graduated from Valley City State Teachers College with her teaching certificate. Ruth married Kenneth Wick on June 30, 1944 in Steele, ND. Ruth began her teaching career in Robinson, ND. She also taught in Hazelton and Sentinel Butte before moving to Jamestown. She taught in Spiritwood before taking a position in the Jamestown Public Schools. She continued her education earning a Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 1970. Most of her career she taught at Gussner Elementary School in Jamestown. Her teaching years and former students were something she treasured throughout her life. In 2002, Ruth moved to the Waterford at Harwood Groves in Fargo, where she lived until November of 2008.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jamestown.
Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Mailloux, Fargo; two granddaughters, Jennifer Mailloux (Dennis) Joule and great-granddaughter Madeleine; and granddaughter Vanessa and great-grandson, Devin, all of Portland, OR.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Kenrad Pederson officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
