Samuel "Sam" J. Kaufman, 96, Eagan, MN, formerly of Jamestown, ND passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Eagan.

Samuel Joseph Kaufman was born May 9, 1917 in Freeman, South Dakota the eldest child of Joseph and Emma Kaufman. Sam served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, where he also completed Russian language training at Yale University. Shortly after discharge from the US Army, he married Doris Groves. Sam and Doris were residents of Jamestown for more than 50 years, where he retired from his position as District Manager for C.H. Carpenter Lumber. Sam was an active participant and executive leader for Lions Club International - ultimately ascending to the position of District Governor.

Sam is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Julie Kaufman, Eagan, MN; grandson Justin; granddaughter Taylor; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris; son, Bruce; parents; brother Orlando and sister, Ruby.
