Samuel "Sam" Roemmich, 89, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND

Sam was born November 28, 1922 at Tappen, ND, the son of Peter P. and Lydia (Albrecht) Roemmich. Sam was raised on a farm near Steele, ND, where he attended grade school and helped his father farm.

Sam married Phyllis (Kemmet Hoff) on July 5, 1945. They lived in Steele where he worked as a butcher and a mechanic until 1952 when the family moved to Bismarck. He was employed by the State Highway Department for 10 years. They moved to Larimore, ND, where Sam worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for 30 years. After retiring, Sam worked for the City of Larimore for several years. In 2000, Sam and Phyllis moved to Jamestown where he had several jobs, including working at the Jamestown Speedway.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Gary, in infancy; two sisters; and two brothers.
