Sandra Kay Messer

Sandra Kay Messer, 61, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, April 18, 2011 at her home.

Sandra Kay Kreutsberg was born July 31, 1949 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Elmer A. and Inger Marie (Engen) Kreutsberg. She graduated from Sebeka High School, Sebeka, MN, in 1967 and worked in Brainerd, MN for a year after graduation. She moved to Jamestown in 1969 and worked at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home. In 1970 Sandy moved to Valley City and worked at the Sheyenne Manor for 2 years. On March 6, 1971 Sandy and Rodney Messer were married in Valley City, ND. They moved to Jamestown in 1972 where they have lived since. She worked at Dakota Bake N Serve for 3 years and in 1976 started a home daycare which she ran until 1980. Sandy then worked at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children from 1980 until 1982 when she started at Central Dakota Village, later Ave Maria Village. She worked at Ave Maria Village for 29 years, quitting in January 2011 for health reasons.

Sandy liked to play games and cook. She loved to spend time outdoors and enjoyed horseback riding, camping, motorcycle riding and gardening. She especially enjoyed having her family and friends around her and spending time with them.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Rodney, Jamestown; two children, Jodi Messer and Trent Messer, both of Jamestown; two brothers, Dennis (Lori) Kreutsberg, St. Louis, MO and Gary Kreutsberg, Eden Prairie, MN, and one aunt, Doris Waznick, Lodi, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and a sister-in-law.
