Sandra Wanzek

Sandra "Sandy" Wanzek, 60, Jamestown, ND died at her home on Saturday, November 29, 2008.

Sandra "Sandy" Leigh Baenen was born March 13, 1948 in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Louis and Florence (DeLair) Baenen. She was raised on the family farm south of Jamestown, ND. Sandy attended school for eleven years in Montpelier, ND and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966. After graduating, she worked for Dakota Clinic. On November 16, 1968, she married Anthony "Tony" Wanzek and they made their home on the Baenen family farm. Sandy was a stay-at-home mom and daycare provider for 22 years. In 1993, she began working at the Depot Café in Jamestown. She later worked at the Day's Inn, Walt Sanders Chevrolet and the Community Corrections Center. On October 25, 2008, she and Tony renewed their marriage vows in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary.

Sandy was a member of St. James Basilica where she served as a Eucharistic Minister as well as a Eucharistic Minister to the home bound.

She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Tony, Jamestown, ND; 5 children: Brian (Krista) Wanzek, Jamestown, ND; Chad Wanzek, Philadelphia, PA; Nicole (Jeremy) Gray, Jamestown, ND; Kari (Blaine) Lee, Jamestown, ND; Paul Wanzek, Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren: Samuel Gray, Alyssa Gray, Noah Wanzek, Adam Wanzek, Amanda Lee and a grandson, Russell Lee, due in December; a brother, Vernon "Buck" (Charlotte) Baenen, Fargo, ND and a sister, Lucinda "Cindi" (Alan) Koch, Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, LeRoy and 3 infant children who were born prematurely and did not survive.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at St. James Basilica.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
