Sheldon K. Cornell, 85, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Sheldon Cornell was born April 6, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Fred and Isabelle (Earsley) Cornell. He moved with his family to St. John, ND where he attended school, graduating in 1942. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was assigned to the U.S. Navy Canine Corps, serving in South Carolina. He was discharged in November of 1945 and returned to St. John, ND. On April 22, 1946, he married Loretta Martell at St. John, ND and they moved to Minneapolis, MN where they lived until 1953 and where Sheldon worked in hardware sales. In 1953, they moved to Minot, ND where he worked for Jenny-Semple-Hill Wholesale Hardware as a salesman. He later worked for Buckingham and Ringsby United Freight Lines in Minot, ND and Jamestown, ND.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons: David (Brenda) Cornell, Horace, ND; Brian Cornell, Jamestown, ND; a daughter, Cathy Cornell, Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers: Frederick and Richard.
Memorial Service - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Interment - Holy Cross Cemetery, St. John, ND at a later date
