Shelia Kay (Mickelson) Salberg passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Eventide Jamestown.
Shelia was born May 10, 1947 to LeRoy and Catherine (Fletcher) Mickelson as the 3rd of 13 children. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1965. Her son Damon was born the following year.
Shelia worked in the restaurant industry for several years in both Jamestown and Lincoln, NE. She graduated from beauty college in Lincoln, NE and worked as a beautician for many years. Back in North Dakota she took a job as a corrections officer at Barnes County Jail in Valley City. She then went to the North Dakota State Penitentiary. She was dubbed “Granny Boots” while working there. A nickname that has carried on. Once she retired from corrections, she kept busy by working at Neighborhood Grocery in Jamestown where she made some good friends.
She is survived by her siblings Joyce Hennings, Branson, MO; Jerry (CaroleAnn) Clark, Great Falls, MT; Sherry (Alex) Musgrave, Fargo, ND; Jean (Mark) Deery, Jamestown, ND; Terry Mickelson, Jamestown, ND; Miles Mickelson, Jamestown, ND; Brant (Deza) Mickelson, Jamestown, ND; Wayne (Ronnie) Mickelson, Spiritwood, ND and Joel (Kirstin Clemens) Mickelson, Weston, WI; sisters-in-law, Teri Jo Mickelson, Bismarck, ND; Val Mickelson, Jamestown, ND, her son Damon (Wanda) Job, Fargo, ND their children Maggie and Cory (Ashley); her granddaughter-in-law Hanna Job; her great grandchildren Gracie, Noah, Tyrson and Waylon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kim, brother Lee, brother Rick, brother-in-law Larry, grandson Travis Job.
Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, December 13, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed on Shelia’s obituary page at eddyfuneralhome.com.
