Shirley Mae Sund

Shirley Mae Sund, age 78, passed away on Sunday August 9th, at Sanford Medical in Fargo, North Dakota.

Shirley was born to Edwin and Hilda (Rankinen) Wilen of Gackle on June 23, 1942. She graduated from Gackle High School, and from a medical technical school in Minneapolis. She worked as a Medical Records Librarian for Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND, and Oakwood Hospital is Detroit, Michigan, before returning to Gackle, where she worked as the administrator of the Gackle Hospital. She married Orlo Sund February 16, 1980, and they made their home on the Sund farm south of Cleveland, ND.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Orlo; sister, Ann Homola of Hazel, SD; brother, Dale (Claudia) Wilen of Cheyenne, WY; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND. A private immediate family service will be held.
