Silas Leroy Skarloken

June 13, 1939 — September 25, 2015

Silas Leroy Skarloken passed away September 25th 2015 at the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown ND, surrounded by family and friends. Silas was born June 13th, 1939 to Otis and Alice (Nelson) Skarloken. His family moved to different areas in North Dakota due to his father being an elevator manger. He was raised around the Sutton, Edmunds and Edgeley ND areas. He graduated from the Courtenay High School in 1957. He entered the Army and was honorably discharge. After the service he worked at GTC in Jamestown ND. He then signed on with the Burlington Northern Railroad traveled and lived in various places.
Si had a love for gardening and animals and bought a "Hobby" farm in Vining MN. He raised cattle, sheep, chickens and rabbits and a large garden. His health began to deteriorate and he moved to Revere, ND to be closer to family. He continued to raise chickens and a large garden. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews helping them out and teaching them to garden. He moved to Jamestown for a short period of time until he entered the Griggs County Care Center where he was able to continue his love of gardening.
He is survived by 3 sisters Janice Sabinash (friend Harold Mikkleson) Jamestown ND, Eileen Fuglestad, Fargo ND, Edith Dysart California, one brother Bernard of Oregon, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Leah Clemens, Gladys Peterson, 5 brothers: Floyd, Chester, Virgil, Wallace Skarloken and Donald Nelson.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, October 2 at Eidfjord Lutheran Church, rural Hannaford, ND with Pastor Jerry Rosin, officiating.
Burial: Church Cemetery.
