Simone M (Vezina) Asmael

Simone Marie Vezina Asmael passed peacefully on May 6, 2022 at St. Raphael, Valley City, ND where she resided for the past year.

She was a very caring, gentle soul, always trying to give and help others. Born in Three Rivers, Quebec, CA, she moved with her family to North Dakota as a teenager. In 1939, she married Tofik Asmael. They lived and farmed near Glenfield, ND, raising two daughters.

She was preceded in death by Tofik in 1962. Moving to Detroit, MI to be near her mother and family after his death, but returning to ND in 1986 until her passing.

Simone is also preceded in death by her mother, Alvina Vezina, her father, Romeo Vezina, brothers: John Vezina of Los Angles, CA and Arthur Vezina of Detroit, MI, and daughter, Maryann Nelson Garis of Minneapolis, MN.

Survivors are her daughter, Jane (Robert) Johnson of Tyler, TX, grandchildren: Brian (Jane) Nelson of Elk River, MN, and Melissa Perry of Minneapolis, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10 AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown with Father Pfeifer to officiate.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens.
