Stanley M. Waagen

Stanley M. Waagen, 83, passed away Sunday morning, May 26, 2019 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Stanley Waagen was born June 16, 1935 in Devils Lake, ND to Hilmar and Julia (Erickson) Waagen. He attended school in Maddock, ND and graduated in 1952. He continued his education at Jamestown College and received his B.S. degree with a major in education. He spent the next nine years teaching secondary education in public schools in North Dakota. In 1968 he married Kathy Haugen, to which four children were born: Carneen, Chrisann, Jayson, and Rebecca. In 1968 he also entered social work in Benson County at Minnewauken, ND. Stan took undergraduate studies for a year in the area of social work at the University of Denver. Afterward, he was employed as a social worker at Cooperstown, ND and a supervisor of social services for the Williams County Social Service Board at Williston, ND. Stan later worked at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown for 14 years as a social worker until he retired in 1999. In 1992 he married George Ann Siebert at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown.
Stan enjoyed going to baseball games and basketball games at Jamestown College. He was a member of the Elks and sang with the Jamestown Choralaires for many years. Stan was proud of his Norwegian heritage and traveled to Norway in 1991 to visit family.
Stan is survived by his wife, George Ann; children, Carneen, Chrisann, and Rebecca; step-son, Dan Siebert, Maricopa, AZ; step-daughter, LaVonne Siebert, Rockford, IL; step-son, Paul Siebert, Newport, OR; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jayson Waagen; and brother, James Waagen.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Linda Schauer officiating.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.
Burial : Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
