Stella Vandeberghe

Stella A. Vandeberghe, 96, Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in Mt. Calvary.

Stella Amelia Barnick was born at Buffalo Lake, Minnesota on June 30, 1908, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Steinborn) Barnick. She moved with her family to North Dakota in 1912 where she grew up in the Jud and Millarton area and received her education. She graduated from Millarton High School in 1926. Stella married John H. Vandeberghe on December 17, 1926 at Dickey, ND. They farmed in the Millarton area. They moved to Oregon during WW II where she was a welder in the ship yards. After the war, they returned to North Dakota where they farmed in the Millarton and Cleveland areas until retirement in 1962 when they moved to Oregon. In 1978 they returned to Gackle, North Dakota. She entered the Villa Loretto Nursing Home, Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin in 1992.

She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Gackle, ND.

Stella is survived by nine children: Virginia Rixen, Fond Du Lac, WI; Sister Mary Theresa, aka, Irene, Mt. Calvary, WI; Valeria (Ted) Heath, Salina, UT; John L. (Marge) Vandeberghe, Cleveland, ND; Patricia Purcell, Lincoln City, OR; Thomas (Kathy) Vandeberghe, Gackle, ND; Elaine Wagner, Silver Lake, OR; Theresa (Bob) Ferguson, Cathlamet, WA and Jerry Vandeberghe, Cleveland, ND, 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchidren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, Archie and Harvey, a grandson, Vernon and a great-grandson, Anthony.

Funeal Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, April 4, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home Chapel with Father Al Bitz officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 3, 2005 at the Eddy Funeal Home.

Vigil: 7:30 PM, Sunday, April 3, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial: Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, North Dakota.
