Terri Opatz

The strongest, kindest person we know received her angel wings on February 17th, 2023.

Terri Rae Miemietz Moran Opatz was born June 6th, 1952, in Jamestown, ND. She was the fifth of six children to Frank and Esther (Hust) Miemietz.  Terri attended St. John’s Academy and Jamestown High School, receiving her diploma in 1970.  Terri married Darrell Moran on September 25th, 1971, in Pingree and to that marriage they welcomed their three children, Shane, Amber and Shyloh.  Terri later married Elmer Opatz in Dickinson at the Stark County Courthouse before a trip to Medora on August 29th, 2014.

Terri was employed by LeFevre Sales in the office until Amber was born. Terri began working at Farmers Union Insurance on April 18th, 1988, until her retirement on June 29th, 2018.

Becoming, being and exceling as a single mom to three kids wasn’t easy. Mom was strong and resourceful. We never went without, or at least never knew we did.  She was the center of our immediate and extended families and was the glue that held together family traditions and gatherings. Mom enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, hosting holidays and celebrations for all of her family and extended family.

Terri is survived by her husband, Elmer Opatz. Children; Shane (Dawn) Moran, Amber (Robert) Brewer and Shyloh Klein. Grandchildren; Matthew Moran-Brewer, Alex Moran (Lauren Penney), Dylan Moran (Sam Hofmann), Kaleb Klein, Isabella Brewer, Riley Brewer, Jett Klein and Lynken Klein. Along with five stepchildren,

ten step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Duke Miemietz and sisters Dorothy Kracht and Michelle Rockey.  Terri was proceeded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Terri’s wishes were to be cremated.

Internment to be held at a later date.

Celebration of Life to be held at 2:00 PM on Friday February 24th, 2023, at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
