Terry “Tex” Geerdes was called to his heavenly home on Monday, June 5, 2023 at SMP Health-Ave Maria, Jamestown, ND after a courageous battle with T-Cell Lymphatic Leukemia (Lymphoma).
Tex was born on December 3, 1943 to Robert and Lois Geerdes in Chicago, IL where they lived for several years. They moved to Long View, TX and lived and worked on the RG Letourneau Ranch. Hence, he was given the nickname “Tex”. They moved to King of Prussia, PA and he graduated from Upper Merion High School. He played football and other sports there.
His best friend Skip Miller recruited him to Jamestown College where he also played football. At JC he met his future wife Sharyln Hubbard. In spite of an academic deferment he was drafted into the Army and served two years at Ft. Dix, NJ as a drill instructor. He returned to Jamestown in 1968 and he and Sharyln were married on July 6, 1968. They would have celebrated their 55th anniversary this year. Tex sang in the Jamestown Choraliers for 34 years.
Tex’s work history in Jamestown included one year as a Police Officer at JPD, assistant manager at Hedahl’s Automotive Center until it’s closing. He then worked for several years in long term care at Hi-Acres Manor, Ave Maria Village and his last job at Roseadele.
Tex and Sharyln are the parents of two sons, Ryan (Christy) and two children McKenna and Kaden; Grant (Kari) and three children Addysen, Trysdan and Olyvia; one daughter Tara and two children Braelon and Tenley; his sister Hally Geerdes, New Holland, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Charmaine, in-laws Fay and Ida Hubbard, brothers-in-law, nephew, niece plus his best friend Skip Miller.
