Theresa Braun

Theresa F. Braun age 83 of Valley City and formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday October 12, 2006 on the date of her fifty-eight wedding anniversary to her late husband Herman at The Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City while under the care of the Hospice of The Red River Valley. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday October 16, 2006 at 1:30 PM in The Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, North Dakota with Reverend Al Bitz celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM followed by a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday evening in the Lisko Funeral Chapel in Jamestown. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Jamestown.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday in The LIsko Funeral Chapel in Jamestown and one hour before services in the church Monday afternoon.

Theresa Frances Lauinger was born May 13, 1923 at Strasburg, North Dakota the daughter of John and Frances (Scherr) Lauinger. Theresa grew up and attended school in Strasburg and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1943.
She later attended college in Bismarck, North Dakota. After she finished college Theresa taught in a one room school house for four years. Theresa married Herman Joseph Braun on October 12, 1948 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg. The family lived at Strasburg until 1950 at which time they moved to Kellogg, Idaho. In 1951 they returned to Strasburg where they farmed until 1957. In 1957 they moved to Ft. Pierre, South Dakota and lived there until 1964. In 1964 they moved to Lakota, North Dakota and then moved to Jamestown in 1966. Herman died in 1993 and Theresa moved to The Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City in July of 2002.

Theresa was a devoted member of The Basilica of St. James, a member of Tabernacle Society of The Basilica of St. James. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Theresa's catholic faith was very important to her. Theresa was also an avid reader, enjoyed the holidays with her family, playing cards, she also was a great cook especially German food and loved to garden.

Theresa is survived by four sons Don (Zita) Braun, Valley City, Reverend H. Gerard Braun, Grand Forks, North Dakota, Myron (Kathy) Braun, Burnsville, Minnesota and Daryl (Julie) Braun, Jamestown, two daughters, Mirakhel Windsong (Virgil Brown), Navajo, New Mexico and Kathleen (John) Ebert, Jamestown, three brothers Kasper Lauinger, Jamestown, John Lauinger, Strasburg, North Dakota and Steve ( Mary Jo) Lauinger, Shoreview, Minnesota, four sisters Betty Leeland, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Isabel Norquist, Aurora, Colorado, Tillie (Bob) Heaser, St. Paul, Minnesota and Mary Ann (Terry) Martin, Wilcox, Arizona, eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister.

Theresa's family would like to personally thank the care givers from Jamestown, The Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City and the Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful care they gave their loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister over the years.
