Therese Solinger

September 25, 1929 — October 6, 2021

Therese Ann Solinger (Wanzek) was born on September 25, 1929 and died peacefully while receiving excellent care from the staff of the Manor of St. Joseph, Edgeley, ND.  The sisters at the Manor were at her bedside praying the rosary until she went to meet Jesus on October 6, 2021.

Therese was the oldest daughter of 16 kids to Paul and Veronica (Prondzinski) Wanzek.  She grew up in Windsor, ND.  After graduation from high school, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Jamestown, ND as a CNA in the O.B. Department.

On June 5, 1952, she married the love of her life Robert Solinger.  They had five children together and were married for 68 years.

Therese took her job as homemaker seriously.  Our home was welcoming to all, we always had delicious meals.  Her garden was massive and the cupboards were filled with canned goods.  Pies and cookies were normal until later years.

She was an excellent seamstress and could make anything from curtains to a prom dress.  She loved holidays and birthdays.  Therese kept the card industry in business by sending all family-including nieces, nephews and friends greetings on their special day.

Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.  She thrived preparing for this gathering.  Sometimes having up to 75 people at their home.  The more that gather the better.  Family was very important to Therese.  She enjoyed having gathering each Sunday after church.

We were fortunate to take family trips and the parents had more adventures to Jamaica, Bahamas, Mexico, and golfing outings with special friends.  Therese loved getting together with her siblings.  They met frequently at the Dairy Queen for a number of years-until it was no longer safe for them to drive.

Therese was an active member of the community of Nortonville and Holy Spirit Church.  Her favorite recipe was the rosary from Our Blessed Mother; 1 Apostles Creed, 53 Hail Mary’s, 20 Mysteries of Faith, (5 Joyful, 5 Luminous, 5 Sorrowful, 5 Glorious), 6 Our Father’s, 5 Glory Be, 1 Hail Holy Queen.  She made over 10,000 rosaries and prayed as she made them.

She is survived by son Michael (Dianne), Carson City, NV, daughter Sandra (Mike) Soggie, Devils Lake, ND, sons Mark (Pat) and Greg (Melody), both of Nortonville, ND; grandchildren Jesse (Luciana) Soggie, Hampstead, NC, Jeremy (Lisa) Soggie, Fargo, ND, Alicia Soggie, Devils Lake, ND, Nicole (Andy) Trudeau, Park Rapids, MN, Tricia (Chris) Heinrich, Kindred, ND, Bryan Solinger, Jamestown, ND, Taylor Solinger Gaines, Fargo, ND, Adam (Jessica) Solinger, Carson City, NV, Lauren Solinger, Reno, NV, Mina Solinger, Aberdeen, SD, Veronica Solinger, Fargo, ND; great grandchildren Maya, Michael, Moana, Natalie, Sophia, Belle, Jacob, Michael, Marie; siblings Cele Newton, Louise Wanzek, Cathy Carlson, Connie Charipar, Judy Baenan, Gene Wanzek, Tony Wanzek and Jenny Berg.

Therese was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert and daughter Patti, four brothers Raphel, David, Kenny and Leonard and three sisters Joyce Gutensohn, Deloris Norris and Joan Cysewski.
