Thomas R. Bear Sr.

Thomas R. Bear, Sr., 70, of Buchanan, ND, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND.

Thomas R. Bear was born December 19, 1935 in Jamestown, the son of Sebastian and Helen (Somsen) Bear. He grew up on the family farm near Buchanan and graduated from Buchanan High School. Thomas married Judith Toay on September 2, 1958 at St. James Catholic Church, Jamestown. They took over the family farm near Buchanan where they raised a family. Thomas enjoyed playing cards, reading poetry, and playing with the grandchildren.

He was a member of the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown.

Thomas is survived by four sons, Ronald (Terri) Bear of Bismarck, ND, Thomas, Jr. (Becky) Bear of Jamestown, Daniel (Kristy) Bear of Lisbon, ND, William (Melissa) Bear of St. Paul, MN; one daughter-in-law, Debora Bear of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Linstaedt of Jamestown and Polly (Edwin) Schmuhl of Grantsburg, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard; five brothers, Robert, Mark, Jim, Donald, Sr., and David; and one sister, Doris Resinger.

Funeral Mass: 10:00AM, Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown.

Visitation: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 1:00PM to 7:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Vigil: 7:00PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
