Vera Zottnick, 97, of Edgeley, North Dakota died on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at SMP-Health Ave Maria.
Vera was born at the family farm five miles south of Edgeley, North Dakota. She was the seventh daughter of Gordon and May (Washburn) Tomlin. Vera attended country school and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1943. Later that year, she and good friend, Dot (Hall) Neis, drove a car to Los Angeles, CA. They lived there during WWII time. Vera worked in a factory that manufactured war items. She moved home in 1947 and married Floyd Huckeby in Edgeley. In 1953, Floyd lost his life in a drowning accident.
Vera was employed at the James Valley Electric Coop. for several years. She and William “Bill” Zottnick were married on September 30, 1956 in the United Methodist Church, Edgeley. They lived in Edgeley all of their married years. In 1960 they were blessed by the birth of their son, William Jay.
Vera helped with the bookwork at the Edgeley Plumbing and Heating Shop. Bill and Partner, Jim Mathson, owned and operated the Shop for many years. Bill passed away in 2010.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandma.
Vera is survived by her son, William Jay “Bill” (Linda) Zottnick, grandsons: Billy and Zackery Zottnick, Edgeley, Sisters-in-law: Helen Zottnick, Billings, MT, Dorothy Zottnick, Albequerque, NM, Ruby Mueller, Madelia, MN, In-laws Don and Brigitte Miller and niece Jannene Janssen, LaMoure, ND and many more special nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers, and seven sisters.
Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley.
Inurnment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home.
