Vern Arthur Wahl, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at his home.
Mr. Wahl was born July 3, 1923 near Eldridge, North Dakota the son of Jake and Viola (Perleberg) Wahl. He attended rural school near Eldridge. Vern married Harriet Schuff on January 11, 1945. On November 23, 1945 Vern entered the US Army in Ft. Snelling, MN. He was discharged on July 13, 1946 and returned to North Dakota. He farmed near Eldridge from 1946 until they moved to Jamestown in 1955. He then worked for the Stutsman County Road Department where he became the Stutsman County Road Superintendent. After retiring he became a Stutsman County Commissioner and served as chairman a large part of his tenure.
Vern was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baking and woodworking.
Vern is survived by his wife, Harriet, of Jamestown; three sons: Wayne (Judy) Wahl, Grand Forks, ND, Gene (Becky) Wahl, Jamestown and Brad (Wendy) Wahl, Bemidji, MN; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilbur (Lorraine) Wahl, and two sisters, Lila (Harold) Hennings and Alice (Richard) Wanzek, all of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, November 17, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
