Verna Thompson, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home, Jamestown. Verna Ernst was born August 13, 1931 in Venturia, North Dakota to Heinrich and Magdalena (Dockter) Ernst. Verna was a graduate of Woodworth High School. She worked for many years as the manager of the S&H Green Stamp store in Jamestown, and later as the manager of the Country Nutrition store at the Buffalo Mall. Verna enjoyed searching for that "special addition" to adorn her wall or to add to a table in her home. She also enjoyed the outdoors; particularly those slow, long walks with her husband. Verna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Verna was a loving wife and mother and is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Orville, Jamestown; her son, Earl (DeAnn) Thompson, Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Kimberly (Stephen) Smith, Chicago, IL, Kirk (Catherine) Thompson, Jefferson City, MO; great-granddaughters, Victoria (Tory) and Natalie Smith, Chicago, IL. Verna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Wesley and Wilfred Ernst, and sisters, Hulda Robinson, Iva Baker and Marilyn (Dale) Disney.
