Vernon Bartle, 80, Edgeley, ND, died Friday, March 19, 2010 in Mesa, AZ.

Samuel Vernon Bartle was born August 11, 1929 on the family farm in Wano Township near Edgeley, ND, the son of Benjamin and Ella (Hird) Bartle. He was raised on the family farm, began his schooling at the Wano Township School and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1947. After graduating, he worked at a service station in Fargo, ND and worked for his brother, Wendell during the summers. In 1953, Vernon purchased a farm. On June 29, 1956, he married Faye Buer at the Methodist Parsonage in Edgeley, ND. Vernon farmed until retiring in 1996. He and Faye continued to live on the farm, spending their winters in Apache Junction, AZ.

Vernon was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Edgeley. He was the Golden Glen Township Supervisor for many years. He enjoyed square dancing and loved to travel. He and Faye visited all 50 states.

Survivors include his wife; 4 children: Brian Bartle, Minneapolis, MN; Barbara Bartle, Fort Worth, TX; Becky (Tom) Heinrich, Duluth, MN; Amy Bartle, Fort Worth, TX; 3 grandchildren and 2 brothers: Fred (Gertrude) Bartle, Edgeley, ND and Arthur (Adeline) Bartle, Casper, WY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Memorial Service - 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley, ND
