Vernon Stevens, 79, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at his home in rural Jamestown.
Vernon was born December 29, 1927 in Goldwin, North Dakota the son of Norman and Myra (Peck) Stevens. He attended school in Vashti. Vernon worked on the family farm before moving to Jamestown. He worked at the Bieber Meat Plant for a few years. Vernon enlisted in the US Army in February 1946 and was discharged in January 1947. He returned to Jamestown and worked at Rilling Standard Station for 10 years. On March 8, 1957 he married Phyllis Hansen in Jamestown. Vernon owned and operated Vern's Mobile Service from 1964 - 1980. He also worked at several other places until his retirement.
He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Jamestown; three daughters, Carol (Larry) Falk, Jamestown, Pamela (Tim) Boelke, New Rockford, ND and Aimee (Tim) Williamson, Jamestown; one son, Eric Stevens, Jamestown; six grandchildren; two half-sisters, Betty (Ronnie) Garner, Polasky, TN and Norma Glover, Ridgley, TN and two half-brothers, Frank (Linda) Stevens, Tappen, ND and Ronald (Dorothy) Stevens, Valley City, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; two step-fathers; one granddaughter; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 5:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
