Vicky Ann Sand

Victoria Ann ""Vicky"" Sand, 44, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Friday, September 9, 2005 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer and under the care of hospice.

Victoria Ann Bertsch was born February 24, 1961 in Ellendale, ND the daughter of Delbert and Judy (Bietz) Bertsch. Her family lived in Gackle, Ipswich, Bowdon, then returned to Ellendale where Vicky received her education, graduating from Ellendale High School. She obtained a nursing degree from UND in 1983 and later earned a master's degree in nursing. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She married Erik Sand on June 9, 1984 in Ellendale, ND by Rev. Darrell Olson. Vicky cared for patients at the Ellendale Hospital, St. Luke's Medical Center, Fargo, Central Valley Health Unit, Jamestown, Dakota Clinic with Dr. Erickson and Dr. Mardirosian, Jamestown, the Law Enforcement Center, Jamestown, and the Jamestown Hospital, where she loved labor and delivery. She also taught nursing classes at Jamestown College for 11 years, worked at Comforts of Home, Jamestown, and Odyssey Research, Jamestown.

Vicky was past president of PTO and a member of the Relay for Life committee and its honorary chair in 2003. She is a former member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. She and Erik were active in providing Lutheran Marriage Encounter weekends and activities.

Her hobbies and joys were quilting, beading, cross-stitching, hardangar, cooking, reading, traveling, and watching her children at their various events.

Vicky is survived by her husband, Erik of Jamestown; two sons, Tyler and Andrew, both of Jamestown; two daughters, Erin and Kirsten, both of Jamestown; parents, Delbert and Judy Bertsch of Ellendale, ND; two brothers, Todd (Michelle) Bertsch of Fargo, ND and Jason (Cheryl) Bertsch of Shoreview, MN; and paternal grandmother, Elsie Maier Bertsch of Ashley, ND.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gottlieb Bietz and Anna Gross Bietz, and paternal grandfather, Arthur Bertsch.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, September 12, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Revs. Darrell Olson, Phil Leer, and David Thompson officiating.

No Visitation scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jamestown Hospital Maternal Child Health or Jamestown Hospital Hospice.
