Vincent (Vince) Gregor, 83, Jamestown, ND, passed away December 29, 2014, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, after a short battle with cancer.
Vince was born August 3, 1931 in Fairmount, ND to Louis and Hazel (Broderick) Gregor. The family moved to West Fargo, ND where he graduated from high school. He entered the Army in 1952 and served during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1954, Vince returned to North Dakota and graduated from North Dakota School of Science.
Vince married Mayburne Merrick on May 4, 1957. They moved to Seattle, WA, where he worked for The Boeing Company. He worked in electrical assembly for commercial and military programs and in 1967 was chosen to work on the development of the Boeing 737. Vince continued with Boeing working his way up to General Supervisor of Electrical Fabrication and Assembly for major aircraft. In 1974, the family moved to Jamestown, ND where he continued his aviation career with Lucas Aerospace. He retired in 1991 as a manufacturing Superintendent.
Vince was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown where he served on many committees, was Congregational President for one year, and was a member of a Tuesday morning bible study group. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a charter member of the Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice. He was a member of Rotary and was recognized as a four time Paul Harris Fellowship receipient. Vince was also involved in Jamestown High School Basketball Boosters, University of Jamestown Boosters, NDSU Team Makers, The American Legion, and many other community organizations.
Vince was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed following Jamestown High School and University of Jamestown basketball and baseball games. He dreamed of visiting every major league baseball park and took several bus tours to visit nearly all of them. He enjoyed traveling, picture puzzles, and working in his yard and flower gardens.
He is survived by three son's and two daughters, Pastor Michael (Nan) Gregor, Veneta, OR; Frank Gregor, Buchanan, ND; Mary (Andy) Buoni, Portland, OR; David (Shannon) Gregor, Fargo, ND; and Rebecca (Wes) Darling, Moorhead, MN. 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, his brother Gerald "TooT" Gregor, Fargo, ND, and 3 sister-in-laws. Vince also leaves behind a special friend, Betty Frigen, Jamestown, ND. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to JRMC Hospice, Jamestown, ND.
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, with pastor Eric Weber officiating.
Visitation: 12:00- 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Church.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
