Violet E. Gunst, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, April 7, 2008 in Jamestown.
Violet Heiden was born September 16, 1925 in Steele, North Dakota, the daughter of Edward and Edith (Reutter) Heiden. She was baptized and confirmed in Bowdon Lutheran Church. Violet attended school in Tappen, ND until the family moved to Heaton, ND where she graduated from high school in 1942. She was a bookkeeper for the Farmers State Bank in Heaton for a few years. On October 20, 1946 Violet married Jack Gunst and they lived on a farm near Emrick, ND. They moved into the Heaton community in 1977 where she was postmistress until her retirement in 1994. Jack died on November 15, 1987. Violet moved to Jamestown in 1994 and has lived here since.
Violet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joleen and John Gockel of Bloomington, MN; a sister, Joyce Lausch of Jamestown; two step-granddaughters, Rose Kuehni and Christina Rathman, both of Ellsworth, WI; one step-great-grandson, Wyatt Kuehni, Ellsworth, WI; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Robert Markey; and two brothers, Orval and Alvin.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, April 11, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor John Syvertson officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Burial: 2:00 PM, Friday, Friday, April 10, 2008, Heaton Cemetery, Heaton, North Dakota.
