Violet Krogh

Violet Krogh, 98, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Violet Marie Joos was born April 28, 1909 on a farm west of Pingree, North Dakota, the daughter of Christ B. and Marie Anna (Zerbel) Joos. She grew up west of Pingree and graduated from Pingree High School in 1926. Violet attended Jamestown College and received a B.A. degree in 1930. On September 19, 1942 Violet married Claire ""Spike"" Krogh in Drake, ND. They made their home in Pingree where they both enjoyed participating in and observing sporting events. Claire died on April 8, 1959. Violet taught in high schools in North Dakota for 16 years including at Goldwin, Millarton, Nome, Pingree, Woodworth, Medina and Cleveland. After Claire?s death and a return to teaching, Violet continued her education by earning her Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota in 1969.

Violet loved roses and flower gardens. She enjoyed opera, music and watching sports. Violet was a member of the Congregational Church in Pingree. She attended the Presbyterian Church in Jamestown.

Violet is survived by brother-in-law, James ""Tex"" Tally of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Vivian Sheets, Fargo, ND; nephews and nieces: Dan Tally, Jamestown, Scott Tally, Fargo, ND, Pam (Jeff) Ruetter, Grayslake, IL, Gary Williams, Las Cruces, NM, Marlys (Richard) Pieske, Jamestown, Dan (Marilyn) Johnson, Devils Lake, ND, Elwyn (Diane) Krogh, Fargo, Gayle Dixon, California, Ken Joos, Omaha, NE and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Irvin, Raymond and Chester; and three sisters, Viola Egstrom, Verna Williams and Vera Tally.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown with Pastor David Thompson officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota.
