Violet Sissell

Violet A. Sissell, 88, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at her home under the care of hospice.

Violet Alice Van Winkle was born June 18, 1920 at Ypsilanti, ND, the daugher of Opha and Alice (Schulz) Van Winkle. She grew up in the Ypsilanti area and graduated from Ypsilanti High School. She moved to Abilene, Texas and married Herbert Sissell on May 30, 1943. Violet returned to North Dakota and lived in Ypsilanti, later moving to Jamestown. She worked at the North Dakota State Hospital for 35 years as a Medical Health Technician.

Violet enjoyed dancing, visiting casinos, and especially playing bingo.

Violet is survived by one son, Conrad (Jannetta) Sissell, Newport News, VA; two daughters, Lois Klose and Sheryl Logsdon, both of Jamestown; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eldora Williams, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial: James Valley Cemetery, Ypsilanti, North Dakota
